Monday, 07 April 2008
Act Now: Bahraini Shia Activists Being Tortured Two human rights activists, detained in December 2007 demonstrations in Bahrain, collapsed on 26 March 2008, after three days of hunger strike. Ahmed Jaffer and Isa Al-Sarah were reportedly taken to the hospital after they fainted. The detainees are protesting against the bad prison conditions and treatment meted out by security guards, and calling for medical treatment urgently required by some detainees. The detainees have not been visited by the medical team assigned by the judge in the court session of 17 March 2008, to carry out necessary examination of the detainees and to investigate whether the detainees were tortured while they were held at the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The medical team is to present their report to the judge during the next trial session scheduled to be held on 16 April 2008.

AIM Loses Dedicated Volunteer PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 25 February 2008
Verily we are from Allah and to Him do we return. With deep sadness and great grief, the AhlulBayt Islamic Mission today lost one of its most dedicated and valued volunteers, Sister Aaliyah Al-Askari. Her sudden demise has shocked her friends and acquaintances who have flooded the forums with emotional messages of grief and loss. To all those who knew her Aaliyah was an inspiration. She was an administrator of the AIM Forums and sacrificed her time and effort to keep alive the forums with no other goal but for seeking His Pleasure and Reward. Today she has left us to journey towards that eternal abode seeking the Most Merciful Lord; the Friend of the believers.

Media Onslaught against Archbishop of Canterbury Stifles Dialogue with British Muslims PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 09 February 2008
Media Onslaught against Archbishop of Canterbury Stifles Dialogue with British Muslims The AhlulBayt Islamic Mission regrets to see the manner in which the media has misconstrued the words of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and today called on the media to adhere to the most basic standards of ethics and responsibility. AIM considers the recent cycle of responses to the Archbishop's comments as indicative of a culture of media sensationalism that delimits any rational discourse on any matters whose subject or implications have to do with Islam. AIM further stated that the current climate which allows the media to act in this divisive way is either a miscalculation or a deliberate attempt to raise tensions and displace the bonds that keep British society vibrant and healthy.

Ashura Procession Handouts PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 January 2008
During this year's successful Ashura procession, many volunteers were involved in spreading the message of Imam Hussain (as) to the general public by means of handouts. AIM would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved and wish them success in their future endeavours. Whilst the overwhelming majority of the work brings hope for the future, there was an incident that we would like to shed some light on. During the procession, there was a handout being distributed entitled: 'The CORRUPT Islamic State of Britain', with our website www.aimislam.com cited at the bottom.

CRISIS ALERT: Nigerian Shia Muslims under Attack PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 03 August 2007
CRISIS ALERT: Nigerian Shia Muslims under Attack The current human rights situation and extensive use of state violence against innocent civilians in Sokoto, Nigeria has reached melting point, as the Sokoto state government has demolished the local Shia Centre, schools and a clinic belonging to the Shi’ite community in addition to setting ablaze hundreds of residences belonging to Shi'ite families. Although no official explanation was given for these demolitions and acts of collective punishment, it is being suggested that it is part of a plan to expel the Shia community from the city. Please raise your voice in condemnation of these violations of the most basic human rights by sending messages of disapproval against these criminal acts of aggression; sample letters, addresses and further guidelines have been provided.
